RDRP (Meth)acrylic Homo and Block Polymers from Lignocellulosic Sugar Derivatives

چکیده
Currently, most commodity chemicals and polymers are manufactured from nonrenewable petroleum-based resources. However, due to its finite nature social claims about environment preservation, alternative sources of value-added building block being intensively studied. Renewable lignocellulosic biomass has offered an attractive replacement for fossil-based chemicals. Lignin C5/C6 sugars obtained through chemical enzymatic methods can be further transformed targeted platforms. In the present review, synthetic pathways well-defined poly(meth)acrylates sugar-derived platforms in which sugar structure is not retained discussed. While bio-based these monomers investigated using a wide range polymerization techniques, this study focuses on precise synthesis macromolecular structures taking advantage reversible-deactivation radical their applications.

Scalable production of mechanically tunable block polymers from sugar.
Development of sustainable and biodegradable materials is essential for future growth of the chemical industry. For a renewable product to be commercially competitive, it must be economically viable on an industrial scale and possess properties akin or superior to existing petroleum-derived analogs. Few biobased polymers have met this formidable challenge. To address this challenge, we describe...
متن کاملFunctionalized Polymers from Lignocellulosic Biomass: State of the Art
Since the realization that global sustainability depends on renewable sources of materials and energy, there has been an ever-increasing need to develop bio-based polymers that are able to replace petroleum-based polymers. Research in this field has shown strong potential in generating high-performance functionalized polymers from plant biomass. With the anticipated large-scale production of li...
متن کاملSaccharification of recalcitrant biomass and integration options for lignocellulosic sugars from Catchlight Energy’s sugar process (CLE Sugar)
UNLABELLED BACKGROUND Woody biomass is one of the most abundant biomass feedstocks, besides agriculture residuals in the United States. The sustainable harvest residuals and thinnings alone are estimated at about 75 million tons/year. These forest residuals and thinnings could produce the equivalent of 5 billion gallons of lignocellulosic ethanol annually. Softwood biomass is the most recalc...

Inorganic ion exchangers have a wide number of applications within the nuclear industry and are preferred over conventional organic resins. Zeolites are ideal for the treatment of dilute wastes, provided that the pH is not too extreme, and their relatively low costs make their use highly economical. For more extreme wastes like those encountered in the Hanford storage tanks, new titanium-based ...
متن کاملCo-solvent pretreatment reduces costly enzyme requirements for high sugar and ethanol yields from lignocellulosic biomass.
We introduce a new pretreatment called co-solvent-enhanced lignocellulosic fractionation (CELF) to reduce enzyme costs dramatically for high sugar yields from hemicellulose and cellulose, which is essential for the low-cost conversion of biomass to fuels. CELF employs THF miscible with aqueous dilute acid to obtain up to 95 % theoretical yield of glucose, xylose, and arabinose from corn stover ...
